EVA Air flew its last passenger 747 on August 21, 2017 — flight BR-892 from Hong Kong to Taipei. The airline had launched with the distinctive 747-400 Combi in 1991, mixing cargo and passengers in the same fuselage on inaugural international services. The 787-9 and 777-300ER run the long-haul network now.

EVA Air’s jumbo era
EVA Air launched international service in 1991 with 747-400 Combis — an unusual variant that divided the main deck between cargo pallets at the front and passengers at the rear, opening North American and European routes from Taipei. A conventional 747-400 passenger fleet followed. EVA was among the last major Asian carriers to retire the passenger 747, keeping it in service until August 2017.
What flies EVA Air’s long-haul routes now
The 787-9 Dreamliner and 777-300ER cover EVA’s long-haul network today.
